Well it’s another one of those newsletters = inspired by stupidity. I was reflecting yesterday as I was doing some protection = training in the back yard that if someone wanted to break into my house/yard, the = best time would be the hottest part of the day right now while Phoenix is = humid as well. Right now the dogs don’t have much stamina I have seen as we = have trained in these tough conditions, I started to see limitations in what they can = and can’t do. Well sure enough today my wife’s truck was broken = into in broad daylight about 4PM the hottest part of the day, right in the front yard. = Again like the last newsletter of this sort, we did some dumb things. Ruby was = in the backyard going nuts so to keep peace with the neighbors my wife and son = hurried her into the house and put her in a kennel where she continued to bark = like crazy. They called me to find out how to quiet her down as I am away = from home right now, and by then she had quit going nuts, it was all over. In my = last newsletter like this, I wrote that the golden rule of dog training is to = trust the dog no matter what even when we are sure they are wrong. Well we = didn’t. No one went to see what was going on, they just worried about getting the = dog quiet. We also saw again, dogs can only help with what we allow them = access too, in the new place we don’t have a front fence like we did back = in Utah, the dogs don’t have access to the front yard. That is going to change = right away though J So the message of = this letter is to remind all of you to trust your dogs, especially when hair = is standing up on their backs and they are trying to tell you something is = wrong, at least look around and call for help. It isn’t our job to catch = the bad guys, just to deter crime from happening to us. We want the dogs to = protect the family, we want the police to catch the bad guys. Also make sure the = dogs have access to everything you want them to protect, they can’t do a bit = of good locked in a kennel or in a backyard or whatever. So learn from our = mistake, and let’s all make good choices from here forward. WE are blessed to = be in a great neighborhood where we are now, and that is why we are the target think = about it, the “thieves” are not stealing from each other in the = bad side of town, they are coming up to the good side of town to take things from others. = Please stay safe and trust your dogs.
